Pianist, Teacher, Composer, Conductor
Thomas Allen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Music and Music Education at Columbia University's Teachers College. He completed a one-year Professional Certificate Program in Injury-Preventive Keyboard Technique at Salem College and studied orchestral conducting under the principal conductor of the Yale Symphony Orchestra. Thomas loves performing, teaching, composing, and conducting, and he has over a decade of professional experience working with all ages, levels, and a wide variety of musical genres (classical music, musical theater, pop, rock, jazz, liturgical). Thomas is highly trained in piano performance, music theory, choir, accompaniment, conducting, and aural skills, as well as being an advocate and teacher of injury prevention for musicians. He is dedicated to helping students appreciate music and express themselves artistically, and his teaching style adapts to the needs of each student. Thomas composes piano music that draws upon several genres.
